The 200th exhibition of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in London promises to be a gala event. Although the society will only be 181 years old in 2012 it is our 200th London exhibition. The RI showed their work in several galleries before the Mall Galleries. The most illustrious of these was the Institute's purpose built gallery at 190 - 195 Piccadilly, just opposite the Royal Academy. While there, as well as hosting exhibitions by other societies, the RI occasionally held more than one of its own exhibitions during the year. Hence 200 exhibitions in 181 years.
